KCSprints returns for the fall/winter season of 2009/10
After a successful first season we are back to deal out more punishment and racing fun.
KCSprints started last summer and is comprised of 3 like minded individuals who wanted to extend the idea of “Lets get together to ride bikes and have a beer” into the sometimes brutal Midwest winter months.
Last year with a two cobbled together fixed gear bikes, two sets of CycleOps rollers w/fork stands, and a computer system rigged up to track speed/distance we held 3 successful bracket race events at Harling’s Upstairs Bar in Westport (Race 2 of 3 was held in conjunction with the ColdSprints crew from MPLS) and 3 stand alone Grudge Match events. Two at The Cellar Rat Liquor shop with Volker Cycles during the popular First Friday’s in the downtown KC Crossroads Art District and one with Acme Bicycle Company during their annual Tour de Cowtown Alley Kat race.
We were featured in KC’s Ink Magazine (the web version is gone but we have print copies if you would like one) as the cover story and plugged in the Pitch weekly.
Thanks to some great sponsors we gave away $1500 in swag and prizes over the course of the season.
KCSprints is back for the ‘09/10 season.
We have worked to improve and simplify our computer tracking system
We have also beefed up the support for the rollers with new heavier bases making them more stable.
For this season we are looking to expand our number of local races, secure some new venues and journey out of KC.
Or 1st local race is set for November 14th once again at Harling’s Upstairs Bar in KCMO
We are in talks with possible venues in Lawrence, KS and Springfield, MO plus we are exploring a race possibility up in Lincoln, NE.
As with any cycling event we are once again on the hunt for sponsors.
As a sponsor we would promote you, your product/service and feature you on any/all print materials (flyers etc), through announcements at our events, and our web sites/twitter/myspace/facebook pages for KCSprints.
As a sponsor what kind of support do we need?
Honestly we’ll take any support we can get!
Any support you could provide would be fantastic being it product etc for prizes or swag to equipment (i.e. bikes, wheels etc) to do the races with.
Or if as a sponsor you would like to do something in conjunction with KCSprints it could be discussed.
Want to see what last season looked like?
Some photos of all three bracket races and one of the Grudge matches can be found here.
The time to race approaches and we look forward to your help in making the 2nd season of KCSprints a success.
